Brand new Waffle Sandwiches, Mousse Glasses and Chocolicious Treats at The Chocolate Room Oman

Any good restaurant is definitely about much more than just the food. It has to have a total package, of which the front house service,  customer care and the efficiency of response to feedback rate very high on my list. For the growing 'chocolate lovers' community in Muscat, there is a great place where one can head to and savour a wide variety of all things 'chocolicious' and definitely meets all the criteria I've just listed. Located in Al Marafah Street, Mirbat Tower in Ghubra, The Chocolate Room which has just celebrated its first anniversary, is  open, airy, well lit with a wide ranging menu for people of all age groups.

The exciting new range-Chocolate, Nutella  Mousse Glasses, Marshy Berry and Peanut Banana Waffle Sandwiches

We've been there a number of times and enjoyed each of those visits.Last evening we were invited to the Soft Launch of a new range of waffle sandwiches and Mousse Glasses by the Store Manager Jergen Enriqeues and had a really great time trying out the 'chocolicious' range of goodies that were brought out one after the other.

Jergen tells us how these new introductions were created.

Jergen ( who is a trained Barista) and his team went about developing and creating these new dishes in a very patient and methodical way.As he describes it, "the first time creation of the banana peanut waffle sandwich topped by a milk chocolate sauce as well as a delicate cinnamon sauce was good, the second version better and the third version exactly what we were looking for." And take if from me, the version that we ate last evening was absolutely delicious!

My regular low fat cappuccino- tastes even better than it looks

The Marshy Berry Waffle Sandwich- strawberry, raspberry and a blueberry concoction topped with a delightful marshmallow sauce

The grand finale- Nutella Mousse and an exotic Dark Chocolate Mousse  topped with whipped cream and chocolate chips

It was a really great evening and what we enjoyed most was the understanding of the kind of time, effort, topped by a huge amount of passion and commitment it takes to create highly innovative  potential best sellers
All smiles- Avi and Jergen

My personal favourite - The Marshy Berry Waffle sandwich

With Valentines Day approaching and a glorious February weekend to boot, I'm positive that the exciting introductions at the Chocolate Room Oman are all set to  delight young and old alike.  And before I close, I'd like to congratulate Team Chocolate Room for the hard work, team effort, enthusiasm and culinary passion that have helped the outlet grow by leaps and bounds in the very first year of its operations in Muscat.

The Chocolate Room Muscat-Revisited

Any good restaurant is definitely about more than the food. It has to have a total package, of which the front house service, the customer care and the efficiency of response to feedback rate very high on my list.In that context, some of you may recall my blog post on my first visit to The Chocolate Room Muscat a couple of months ago. While I had loved almost everything about the place, this is what I had to say about the coffee on that day.

"The presentation looked great and must add, the tart tasted good too. However, call me fussy, but the coffee was another story. It wasn't anything like the Latte I'd been expecting. Of course, this wasn't my regular brand but to me the coffee tasted overly  sweet( in my book, sugar is never mixed in the cup before bringing to the customer). It also tasted nothing like coffee.

So when Vic came around to ask me if everything was OK, I promptly pointed that out. That was when I learnt that it was actually a Belgian chocolate concoction and that all their coffees have an element of that flavour. Must admit, I wish I'd known that earlier......."

Shortly after the blog post came up , I was pleasantly surprised to receive an e mail from  Jergen Enriquez, The Operations Manager at the Chocolate Room.

"Thanks for visiting our cafe & trying out our menu! It was a pleasure to serve you and we look forward to do so again in the near future! :)

We are also thankful that you spared some time to give us your honest feedback which is very valuable for us.

It is great to know that you loved our ambience, food & service - we assure you that the standards will be maintained  at all times.

We noted your comments on your blog. We will assure that our staff will educate our guest when it comes to our products in our menu before taking the final order.

I would like to know if it is possible to meet you or contact you so I can discuss our whole products and our specialty coffees available in our cafe

Chocolaty Regards

I thought that it was an extremely positive response to my comment and I found myself looking forward to my next visit to The Chocolate Room. As it happened that took quite a  while but let me say it was well worth the wait!

Last evening I found myself back there with a group of friends to  cclebrate the birthdays of three of the ladies and this time Jergen  was there to take us through the story of coffee in general as well as the Chocolate Room coffees in particular.

Jergen talks to us about Coffee

If I  told you all that we learnt about coffee from Jergen, I think I would need a couple of pages, so I will come straight to the point and show  you what we ordered.

Cappuccinos and  latte -good old fashioned coffee which tasted even better than it looked

It was just past 6 pm and we decided to order a range of  coffees, crepes and open sandwiches followed by a chocolate  dessert and at the end of it were delighted with our choice. With the smiling Jojo to serve us and obligingly click photographs we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly for a couple of hours at the Chocolate Room.

Would we go back there again? The answer - a unanimous Yes!

You see we haven't even gone through a thirtieth of the wide ranging Chocolate Room Menu...
All of us- Clicked by Jojo
Open sandwiches- Great anytime treats

A triple chocolate dessert- Fabulous!

My first visit to The Chocolate Room, Muscat

For most of us, chocolate rates very high on our list on our list of things that we love to eat, inhale and experience.   And so for the growing chocolate lovers community in Muscat, there is a new place where you can head to and savour a wide variety of all things 'chocolicious.'

Located in Al Marafah Street, Mirbat Tower in Ghubra the Chocolate Room is  open, airy, well lit and has a well designed and planned menu for people of all age groups. When I walked in at 11 am yesterday  I saw a group of young Omani women tucking into their sweet as well as savoury delights .
When I asked them if they were regulars, the answer was in the affirmative with two of them telling me that this was their third visit.

Would they come here again?

Yes, they definitely would.

And finally, what was it that drew them there?

"We love the food as well as the fact that we can sit here and study peacefully during the mornings."

As good a reason as any, I thought to myself and placed my order for a Cafe Latte and a Chocolate tart.

When my order was served by the smiling Vic, this is what it looked like.

A Chocolate tart and a Cafe Latte

The presentation looked great and must add, the tart tasted good too. However, call me fussy, but the coffee was another story. It wasn't anything like the Latte I'd been expecting. Of course, this wasn't my regular brand but to me the coffee tasted overly  sweet( in my book, sugar is never mixed in the cup before bringing to the customer).

It also tasted nothing like coffee!

So when Vic came around to ask me if everything was OK, I promptly pointed that out. That was when I learnt that it was actually a Belgian chocolate concoction and that all their coffees have an element of that flavour. Must admit, I wish I'd known that earlier...

What I absolutely loved were the interiors. Brown, white, maroon and gleaming, there is a definite element of style about the place  and I can see it becoming a popular destination for chocolate lovers in Muscat.

The  interiors look good

Vic and the group of students

Later Vic showed me the Menu in some detail  and this time I saw that there were plenty of other choices  in the sweet as well as the savoury sections..

So as I started by saying, this was my first visit to the Chocolate Room but definitely not my last.....
