Enchanting Himachal- Moods, Shades and Views-My video on You Tube

On a road trip to enchanting Himachal in the month of April we are discovering  some fabulous views, moods and shades.

The weather is unbeatable- a slight nip in the air in the morning and cold on some evenings. In fact, day before yesterday when the temperature was 24 C I remember saying it was rather warm. Hey Presto, it rained the very next day and how! The temperature dropped by about 8 degrees instantly and we are back to feeling 'normal'.

We are based at Gables, a beautiful colonial hotel in Mashobra which is a part of the Club Mahendra network and head out to a different location everyday.

Surrounded by beauty all around

Apple trees with beautiful white flowers and orchards all ready for the season which begins next month.
.
Walking past these beautiful sights is absolutely delightful and one just cant get enough of the weather, sights and fragrance..

Glimpses of A Winter Wonderland and some postcards from Himachal Pradesh

In my last blog post, I shared a video from the Shiva Temple Shivpur.
In this post, I've decided to share some real life postcards from the real life Winter Wonderland that we were lucky enough to experience one afternoon in December.

It must have been about three in the afternoon and we had just returned to our hotel at the Club Mahindra Resorts in Mashobra when we saw the weather change.
It was a very rapid transition and like many of the other residents of the hotel, we made the most of the afternoon-clicking shots that we may not have got to see during the rest of our stay there.

And then it looked like this

Avi actually stepped out for a walk, while I stayed, watched and clicked

It soon became whiter...and colder...

A view from the top

And I'm so glad we  did- because we then had our Christmas postcards, just before Christmas.

Hope you like the pics too!

The Enchanting House on the Hill

It must have been about twenty years ago that I first saw it, this enchanting house on that equally enchanting hill.

Then found myself heading straight towards it as the gate was so invitingly open.

Shivalik Farms- the 'Enchanting house on the Hill'

The nameplate announced 'Shivalik Farms, your one stop shop for jams, juices and pickles.'

And boy, did we buy those items, and get hooked for life!

Every year thereafter, or whenever we went to Shimla, a trip to Mashobra was a 'must do' when we would buy  our stock of jams and fruit juice.

The unbeatable view
Run by Mrs Leela Jain an extremely versatile and accomplished lady, now in her eighties, it truly is a lovely place to stop by and rest one's body as well as uplift one's spirits.

Check it out for yourselves if you ever go that side and I can bet that you too will find yourself returning there again...

Walking to the village
And then....

On my last visit-Nov 2013

Yet again.....
